Mary T. Vidas

Biography

Mary Vidas has devoted over 39 years to representing clients in domestic relations and family law. She offers in-depth experience to clients in the following areas:

  • Divorce negotiation and litigation
  • Custody and child support negotiation and litigation
  • Alimony
  • Pre-nuptial agreements
  • Equitable distribution
  • Adoption matters
  • Contract and shareholder disputes

Mary has been certified as an arbitrator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She is a frequent lecturer for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Academy of Matrimonial Law, the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association, and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs (“PICPA”). Recent lecture topics have included: “Validity of Pre-nuptial Agreements,” “Alimony and Elder Law Issues,” “Executive Compensation Issues & Dilemmas,” “Custody Problems,” “Co-parenting Agreements,” “The Impact of Social Media on Divorce Cases,” “Settlement Solutions: Thinking Outside the Box,” and “Legal Issues Involved in the Tracing and Commingling of Marital and Non-marital Assets,” the impact of the new Tax Cuts and Jobs Act on divorcing couples; and the “Ramifications of the Secure Act of 2.0 for Family Law Practitioners and Their Clients.”

Professional Activities

Mary is a past-chair of the American Bar Association’s Section of Family Law. Mary currently serves as a Family Law Section Delegate to the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates and is the Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee for the American Bar Association Family Law Section. She is a past-chair of the ABA/FL Taxation and Bankruptcy Committees; past-president (and currently Treasurer) of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (“AAML”); has served as a member of the CLE, National Test, and Admissions Committees for the national AAML; is a past-president of the Nicholas Cipriani Family Law Inn of Court and was the past Chair of the Family Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association. She has also served for the past 15 years on the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Judicial Committee Investigative Teams.
