Katherine Pauley Barecchia


Katherine Barecchia concentrates her practice on pre-litigation disputes and litigation in both state and federal courts involving a wide variety of issues. In those matters, Kate focuses on practical ways to resolve clients’ problems. Kate is also CIPP/US and CIPP/E certified, and regularly advises clients on issues related to data privacy.

Prior to rejoining Blank Rome, Kate served as assistant general counsel to SunGard Data Systems (now FIS) where she supported all business units within the SunGard portfolio and handled litigation on behalf of SunGard both domestically and internationally. She was also responsible for SunGard’s litigation readiness, including managing data in compliance with international privacy laws and implementing an eDiscovery program. Additionally, she managed SunGard’s patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios.

Before SunGard, Kate was an associate at Blank Rome and handled cases involving intellectual property, M&A, consumer finance, and other issues.

Kate is fluent in French.

Outside the Firm

Kate previously served on the Executive Committee for the Washington Area Vanderbilt Alumni Association. She is also a member of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution.


Professional Activities

Kate has served as a member of Blank Rome’s Pro Bono Committee and is a member of IAPP, the International Association of Privacy Professionals. In 2009, she received the Firm’s Edwin P. Rome Award for excellence in pro bono.
