Julia K. Holt


Julia Holt represents individual and corporate policyholders in negotiations, informal disputes, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation to maximize their recovery of insurance policy proceeds. She has represented policyholders, including Fortune 500 companies, in numerous industries, including:

Julia also has recovered significant amounts from insurers for defense fees and costs, and indemnification for settlements and judgments, under third-party insurance policies, including commercial general liability, management liability, directors & officers liability, media liability, and employment practices liability, in connection with:

  • U.S. Department of Justice, grand jury, and other government investigations
  • Lawsuits for copyright and trademark infringement, misappropriation of likeness/right of publicity, and trade disparagement

While earning her J.D., Julia served as a law fellow in Georgetown University Law Center’s Legal Research & Writing Department, and as a senior project editor for the American Criminal Law Review.

Julia enjoys travel, paddleboarding, and spending time with her dogs.


  • Successfully litigated and recovered millions in defense fees and costs incurred in connection with a government investigation.
  • Successfully negotiated a six-figure settlement immediately after filing a coverage action for claims insurer had insisted were excluded by the policy.
  • Successfully negotiated the payment of defense fees and costs, and indemnification for settlement, in connection with a wrongful employment practices lawsuit.
  • Successfully negotiated a six-figure settlement under crime policies in connection with a lawsuit to recover the stolen funds.
  • Successfully litigated and settled a reinsurance dispute on behalf of a captive insurance company after convincing the court that a cause of action for bad faith against a reinsurer was permissible.

Professional Activities

Julia is actively involved in pro bono work and has completed numerous adoptions for foster children in Los Angeles County. In addition, she has represented foster parents in administrative hearings to obtain the state benefits to which they are entitled.
