The Honorable Judith J. Gische concentrates her practice on complex corporate litigation matters.
Judge Gische has more than 30 years of experience serving as a judge in the New York State Court System. She most recently served (2012–2022) as an Appellate Division Justice, deciding appeals in civil and criminal cases arising from the New York and Bronx County Supreme Courts. Her experience includes over 38 signed Appellate Division decisions, participating in panels deciding over 6,000 cases, and serving as the primary author on many of those decisions.
Prior to 2012, Judge Gische served as a trial court judge presiding over both bench and jury trials, managing cases through pre-trial discovery and motion practice, and mediating and settling cases on her docket. While on the Supreme Court, she had approximately 100 officially reported decisions, brought no less than 60 cases to judgment, and settled the majority of the thousands of cases, which included, but were not limited to, commercial disputes, torts, matrimonial, and real estate matters. Prior to her role on the bench, she served as a private practice attorney, concentrating on commercial, corporate, and real estate matters.
Judge Gische is a prolific writer for law journals and publications and often lectures at and/or organizes moderated panels before professional groups.
