Edward N. Cahn

Biography

Edward Cahn, former Chief United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, concentrates his practice in complex litigation and dispute resolution. Since joining Blank Rome, Judge Cahn has mediated over 1,300 separate controversies. He serves a wide range of clients in matters such as:

  • ERISA
  • Corporate—shareholder actions, securities litigation
  • Antitrust
  • Commercial
  • Alternate dispute resolution
  • Intellectual property

Judge Cahn began his service as a judge in 1975, and was chief judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania from 1993 to 1998. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Lehigh County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. Previously, Judge Cahn was a Tresolini Lecturer in law at Lehigh University, an adjunct professor of law at Rutgers-Camden Law School, and received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Lehigh University in 2002.

He was a member of the Judicial Conference of the United States from 1994 to 1996, Judicial Conference Committee on Judicial Resources from 1993 to 1998 and Judicial Conference for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals from 1993 to 1998. Judge Cahn maintains offices in Allentown and Philadelphia.
