Divya L. Kannegenti


Divya Kannegenti concentrates her practice on intellectual property law. Her experience includes:

  • Domestic and international intellectual property counseling and clearance
  • Trademark portfolio management
  • Prosecution of trademark and service mark applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
  • Patent litigation
  • Trade secret litigation

Prior to joining the firm, Divya served as an associate and law clerk at a Houston-based boutique firm focused on patent, trademark, and copyright law. 

During law school, Divya took courses in IP-related subjects, including trademark prosecution and FDA law, and earned a concurrent master’s degree in Public Health. Additionally, as a graduate research assistant she compiled data regarding the diversity of Fortune 500 companies. Divya also held legal externships with the University of Houston Law Center Mediation Clinic and The Immunization Partnership (“TIP”). At TIP, Divya helped develop childhood vaccination advocacy and policy strategies presented to the Texas Senate Health & Human Services Committee.

Before law school, Divya studied Microbiology & Immunology at the University of Miami. As a research assistant at the Miller School of Medicine, she cultured stem cells and helped develop a potential treatment for severe aplastic anemia.

Outside the Firm

Outside of the firm, Divya enjoys traveling, and has visited seven countries outside of the Unites States. She is an Indian classical dancer and Bollywood dancer, and has competed in numerous local and international pageants.

Professional Activities

Divya serves on the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion and Lawyers for Literacy Committees of the Houston Bar Association. She is also a member of The Honorable Nancy F. Atlas Intellectual Property Inn of Court, American Intellectual Property Law Association, Asian American Bar Association of Houston, and Houston Intellectual Property Law Association.
