Divya Kannegenti concentrates her practice on intellectual property & technology and related matters. Her experience includes IP litigation, including patent and trade secret litigation; trademark prosecution, enforcement, and contested trademark matters; counseling clients on various intellectual property considerations related to new ventures; drafting and reviewing various types of technology transactions agreements, including software development services agreements; and advising clients on open-source license agreements and end user license agreements. Prior to joining the firm, Divya served as an associate and law clerk at a Houston-based boutique firm focused on patent, trademark, and copyright law.
Divya also holds a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Texas, and an undergraduate degree in Microbiology & Immunology from the University of Miami. She spent several years working as a research assistant at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where she cultured stem cells and helped develop a potential treatment for severe aplastic anemia.
Additionally, as a graduate research assistant at the University of Houston Law Center she was part of a team that studied the diversity of Fortune 500 companies. Divya also held legal externships with the University of Houston Law Center Mediation Clinic and The Immunization Partnership (“TIP”). At TIP, Divya helped develop childhood vaccination advocacy and policy strategies presented to the Texas Senate Health & Human Services Committee.
Outside the Firm
Outside of the firm, Divya enjoys traveling, pilates, dancing, and writing. She is an Indian classical dancer and Bollywood dancer, and in her spare time she writes screenplays and novels.
