Courtney Presswood

Biography

Courtney Presswood concentrates her practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, securities, and general corporate matters, including:

  • public and private companies in mergers and acquisitions
  • private equity funds and their portfolio companies
  • venture capital funding transactions
  • public and private securities offerings and other financings
  • securities regulation compliance and corporate governance matters
  • a variety of general business matters, including business formation and planning, commercial agreements, executive compensation and equity compensation arrangements

While in law school, Courtney worked as a clinic intern at the Donald Pritzker Entrepreneurship Law Center at Northwestern University, served as a judicial intern to Honorable Timothy A. Barnes of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and was an Associate Editor for the Journal of International Law & Business.

Outside the Firm

Courtney’s interests include backpacking internationally, reading literature and about current events, spending time with her English bulldog, learning to play guitar, hiking, and yoga.

Experience

  • Acquisition of the outstanding stock of a market leading display company that focuses on creating retail merchandising materials on behalf of a business development company.
  • Acquisition of two chains of retail stores, which included 27 store locations in three states.
  • Divestiture of a portfolio company in the business of designing and manufacturing. distributing and marking proprietary equipment and software applications for use in the digital jukebox industry.
  • Acquisition and financing of a portfolio of companies that collectively produce thermal management systems and controls for the transportation and heavy equipment markets.
  • Acquisition of a supplier of traffic control devices and services on behalf of a portfolio company that provides traffic control and protection services.
  • Divestiture of a portfolio company in the business of distributing oil and quick lube products nationwide.
  • Management buyout involving a company in the power-generation market and servicing of on and off highway equipment.
  • Acquisition and financing of a custom apparel company on behalf of a business development company.

Professional Activities

Courtney volunteers with the SeniorLAW Center to prepare wills, living wills, healthcare power of attorney, and financial power of attorneys for the elderly. Courtney also volunteered on a collaborative research project on homelessness and poverty for the National Law Center.
