C. Brendan Cummings

Biography

C. Brendan Cummings focuses his practice on litigation and arbitration disputes, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance matters.

Prior to joining Blank Rome, he served as Vice President – Legal, and Corporate Secretary for an engineering, construction, and industrial services company based in Texas where he led its legal department. In that role, he handled affirmative and defensive claims from initial assessment through trial/arbitration or other final resolution, including large contract disputes, construction claims, personal injury matters, legacy asbestos cases, employment and union disputes, and class action claims. He also advised on all aspects of construction law, from contract negotiation through final resolution of any disputed matters; managed and maintained all corporate governance for the company’s U.S. entities; and led the response and remediation team following data breaches, including coordination with authorities and ensuring compliance with the E.U. General Data Protection Regulation and U.S. privacy laws. Additionally, he provided legal advice on all major business operations as part of the executive team, assisting the CEO and CFO with determining and implementing strategic plans and advising Human Resources and operations on all employment matters.

Brendan also served as deputy general counsel for an oilfield services company and as counsel for an offshore drilling contractor. He also previously served as an attorney with Bell, Ryniker and Letourneau, which formally joined Blank Rome’s Houston office in 2013. 

During law school, Brendan served as Editor-in-Chief of the Environmental & Energy Law & Policy Journal at the University of Houston Law Center.
