A South Florida native, Anthony Yanez has a versatile litigation practice with a concentration on consumer finance and commercial matters. He has more than 10 years’ experience in all aspects of civil litigation, including each of the following areas:
- Complex business litigation claims brought for and against closely-held and publicly traded companies
- High-profile land development and partnership disputes involving developments of regional impact
- Enforcement of commercial loan documents including unconditional guaranties and security agreements
- Catastrophic personal injury and premises liability actions involving varying degrees of tort exposure
- Insurance recovery claims on behalf of policyholders
- Probate and guardianship litigation including disputes arising during formal administrations and elderly exploitation claims
- Real property litigation, including quiet title actions, easements, partition actions, title insurance disputes, and resolution of clouds on title
As a member of the consumer financial services team, Anthony also regularly represents lenders and financial institutions in a variety of consumer finance litigation matters in federal and state court, including disputes under TILA, RESPA, FCRA, ECOA and FDCPA, state law UDAP claims, and a variety of common law claims. Since joining Blank Rome five years ago, Anthony has achieved numerous favorable appellate and district court decisions for his clients in state and federal courts throughout Florida.
In addition, Anthony has experience working on a variety of commercial and corporate litigation matters in state and federal courts, including motion practice, depositions, discovery, pre-trial, mediations and resolutions, dispositive motions, evidentiary hearings, contested trials, and appeals at Am Law 200 Firms before joining Blank Rome. In addition to his topical contributions to Firm publications, such as Consumer Finance Watch and Mainbrace, Anthony lectures on a variety of civil litigation subjects for National Business Institute, a leading provider of continuing legal education (“CLE”) programs.
Anthony is an active participant in Blank Rome’s pro bono program, including his successful representation of an Eritrean national in removal proceedings brought before the United States Department of Justice and assistance of veterans through the Mission United Veterans Pro Bono Project at Legal Aid Service of Broward County. Anthony was part of the Florida team of lawyers that earned the 2018 Comisky Cup, which is awarded annually to the Blank Rome office(s) with the highest pro bono performance.
Anthony is a member of BR United and has previously coordinated the Firm’s participation in the Kozyak Minority Mentoring Foundation Picnic, which is an annual event in South Florida that provides diverse law students with an unparalleled opportunity to network with lawyers and judges from all areas of Florida and the legal profession in an informal and fun environment. Anthony also serves on the Firm’s Associates Committee and was previously selected to participate in Blank Rome's Ninth Trial Academy held at Philadelphia City Hall.
During law school, he served as an editor for the University of Miami International and Comparative Law Review. He earned Book Awards in the subjects of Business Associations and Sports Law.
While an undergraduate at Notre Dame, Anthony was inducted into Beta Alpha Psi, the national accountancy honor fraternity.
Anthony has been selected six times as a “Rising Star” by Florida Super Lawyers, which is an honor awarded to no more than 2.5 percent of lawyers age 40 or under, or who have been in practice less than 10 years.
