Sean R. Weissbart Explains Whether Britney Spears Could Face a New Conservatorship

Fox News

Sean R. Weissbart, partner and co-chair of the Tax, Benefits, and Private Client group, recently spoke to Fox News about whether a court might appoint another conservator for Britney Spears following her arrest.

"Conservatorships are a really tough thing in the law. It's appointing another person to manage the property of another adult. Of course, you do not take that lightly. Those are really only maintained for very long periods of time when someone is really incapable of managing their own affairs," said Sean.

"A penalty for a criminal conviction for DUI is not going to generally be a conservatorship. That is not a result [of a DUI]. There might be probation, there might be incarceration sentences, but it's not going to be a conservatorship appointed. However, it could be that if she is convicted of this, and we learn that she may in fact have substance abuse issues and mental issues she is suffering through again, that it might be appropriate for a conservator to again be appointed. But that is not a logical outcome of a DUI conviction," said Sean.

Sean also recently spoke to Page Six about Spears’ conservatorship. Read the media coverage here.
