New Colo. Laws Typify Progressive States’ Pro-worker Efforts

Recently enacted laws in Colorado that make it easier for employees to sue for pay inequity and guarantee them paid sick leave exemplify how some blue states are catching up to traditionally pro-worker hotbeds, like California and New York, and could foreshadow similar efforts elsewhere, experts say.

Blank Rome LLP partner Jason Reisman, who represents employers, said the Centennial State’s efforts to bolster workplace protections are putting it on par with blue states that are generally known to offer the most generous legal protections in the country for workers.

“Colorado honestly I think is giving California a run for its money in terms of employee protections,” Reisman said, adding that the state’s Department of Labor and Employment has recently been on an aggressive enforcement run.
