Blank Rome recently shared that partner Josef B. Volman has been selected as a finalist in the Merger and Acquisition Attorney of the Year category in Connecticut Law Tribune’s 2025 New England Legal Awards. In this Q&A honoree profile, Joe shares insights into what he finds most enjoyable about his M&A practice, the rewarding aspects of his work, and highlights some of his key accomplishments over the past year.
What accomplishments are you most proud of from the past year?
What I enjoy most about my practice is the variety of industries that I cover as well as the spectrum of the size of deals that I was able to close in this somewhat challenging market. The sale of Verndale to private equity firm Trinity Hunt in February 2025 was particularly rewarding since I have represented Verndale for several years and have acted as outside general counsel on corporate and other matters for them and then closed an acquisition for them at the end of 2024, and then closed the majority sale to Trinity Hunt in 2025. Seeing a client go through challenging times and representing them over a period of years and then seeing such a fantastic exit is very rewarding.
