Blank Rome Partner Jayme L. Butcher recently served as a mentor for Bizwomen Mentoring Monday 2019 held on February 25, 2019. The event offered attendees the opportunity to choose from over thirty mentors who are the most-influential women in the community for one-on-one mentoring sessions. As part of Mentoring Monday, Pittsburgh Business Times published a weekly Q&A series where the mentors offered advice on leadership and career topics.

Meet the Women – January 8, 2019

Butcher is vice chair of the commercial litigation group. She has built her legal practice helping clients in a wide variety of litigation matters. She helps clients reach their goals by developing clearly defined litigation strategies that complement clients’ broader business objectives. She is a founding member of the Pittsburgh chapter of “Alley to the Valley,” a structured networking group in which accomplished women join together to help each other reach new heights.

What Did You Learn from a Mentor? – January 16, 2019

“I have had the good fortune of having many amazing mentors throughout my career. Each has taught me something very different at various stages of my career so it is hard to pinpoint just one thing that I learned. However, the most valuable thing that I learned is to always make it easy for people to help you. Do not expect people to just want to help you, you need to make it easy for them to do so by letting people know what it is that you want, and why it is that you deserve it.”

“People who are appreciated also do more than is expected. It’s a fact. A great leader needs to inspire those that they are leading, and make them feel that they are a part of a team and that they are appreciated.”
