Joan Bondareff Appointed Committee Articles Vice Chair of ABA’s Marine Resources Committee

Blank Rome Of Counsel Joan M. Bondareff has been appointed vice chair of committee articles of the American Bar Association (“ABA”) Marine Resources Committee for the 2019–2020 term. She formerly served as the committee’s vice chair of policy.

As part of the ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources, the Marine Resources Committee focuses on issues that impact the oceans. Recent topics addressed by the committee include international efforts to preserve marine habitat and reduce ocean pollution, climate change, exploration and production of marine natural resources, use of the marine environment for alternative energy projects, aquaculture, marine transportation, and legal issues arising from the use of coastal and ocean areas. At Blank Rome, Joan focuses her practice on marine transportation, environmental, regulatory, renewable energy, and legislative issues. Prior to joining the Firm, she was chief counsel and acting deputy administrator of the Maritime Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation. Joan currently serves as chair of the Virginia Offshore Wind Development Authority, a role she was appointed to by Governor Ralph Northam in November 2016.
