Blank Rome’s Yelena Barychev Appointed President of AACMI

Yelena M. Barychev

In January 2021, Yelena M. Barychev has been named President of the Association of Audit Committee Members, Inc. (“AACMI”), a not-for-profit organization devoted to developing best practices for audit committees. Frederick D. Lipman, who served as President of AACMI since its inception in 2003, retired from his position and has been named Chairman Emeritus of AACMI.

More than ever, during the COVID-19 crisis, audit committees play a critical role in overseeing the companies’ financial reporting and audit process. AACMI looks forward to providing engaging and timely programming for audit committee members on audit committee challenges, auditor independence and audit committee oversight of Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) risks.

At Blank Rome, Yelena focuses her practice on advising management and board of directors on complex governance matters, executive and director compensation, as well SEC, NYSE and NASDAQ compliance matters. Yelena writes and speaks frequently on corporate governance and securities compliance matters. She is a Co-Lead of Blank Rome’s ESG team and is a member of the Board of Directors of The Forum of Executive Women and a member of the Educational Programs Committee of the Society for Corporate Governance.

In her new role, Yelena will serve as host for the upcoming AACMI webinar, “New Accounting Rules for 2021,” being held Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 12:00 pm EST.

Webinar presenter Thomas I. Selling PhD, CPA, will discuss new or changed accounting rules applicable for 2021 which could be important to audit committees.
