Blank Rome’s Susan Bickley Named Chair and Houston Office Honored at Houston Bar Foundation’s 2020 Annual Meeting and Luncheon

Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Susan L. Bickley was inducted as chair of the Houston Bar Foundation and the Firm’s Houston office was honored for its “Outstanding Mid-Size Firm Contribution to Houston Volunteers Lawyers” at the Foundation's Annual Meeting and Luncheon on February 25, 2020. The special event was attended by approximately 500 members of the Houston bar, including judges, community and business leaders, and members of the legal community.

Susan, who serves as chair of Blank Rome’s Houston office, has been a member of the Houston Bar Foundation’s board of directors since 2018 and received its President’s Award in 2010 and 2011. Established in 1982 as a charitable arm of the Houston Bar Association (“HBA”), the Foundation is the primary funding source for the city’s Houston Volunteer Lawyers program, which has delivered free legal services to low-income residents of Harris County for 35 years. In her role as board chair, Susan will lead the Foundation’s mission of supporting programs that help provide legal representation to the indigent, promote community understanding of the legal system, and foster the administration of justice.

In addition to their involvement with Houston Volunteer Lawyers, Susan and many other of the Firm’s Houston attorneys are active in various HBA committees and initiatives. Blank Rome was one of the initial signatories to the HBA’s Gender Fairness Commitment Statement, which asks firms and legal departments to take “concrete action” to “materially increase” the number of women who are partners and firm leaders. The attorneys also actively participate in and support the HBA’s Gender Fairness Committee, which is co-chaired by Blank Rome Associate Emery Gullickson Richards and examines issues related to gender fairness in the legal profession.
