Blank Rome's Fred Lipman Selected as the Featured Guest Speaker of the Philadelphia Bar Association's "Giants of the Business Bar"
Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that partner Frederick D. Lipman will be recognized and also be the featured guest speaker at the Philadelphia Bar Association’s (“PBA”) upcoming “Giants of the Business Bar” event. Sponsored by the PBA’s Business Law Section, the program will be held at Ballard Spahr LLP, 1735 Market Street, 48th Floor, on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 5:30 p.m.
This event is part of a series of programs in which the PBA’s Business Law Section recognizes legal giants who have had a significant impact on the practice of business law in Philadelphia and beyond, and provides an opportunity for both young and experienced lawyers to learn from the giants.
Mr. Lipman was invited as a guest speaker for this event in recognition of his successful career in and significant contributions to the legal industry. The PBA details his career achievements in its “Giants of the Business Bar” event announcement.
Mr. Lipman, a partner at Blank Rome LLP with over 50 years of experience and a former Chair of the Business Law Section, is an internationally known authority on business law and has authored 17 books on topics ranging from corporate governance to international business and finance. He has appeared on CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg and Chinese television and has been quoted in numerous publications such as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, USA Today and Forbes. He has lectured in China, Thailand, India, Australia and at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
Mr. Lipman taught for many years in the MBA program at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania Law School and Temple University Beasley School of Law. Among his many positions, Mr. Lipman serves as the president of the Association of Audit Committee Members, Inc., an organization dedicated to developing best practices for audit committees.
Mr. Lipman counts as his greatest professional contribution in the corporate governance area the development and advocacy of a robust whistleblower policy which is described in his book Whistleblowers: Incentives, Disincentives, and Protection Strategies (John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 2012). He believes that the widespread adoption of a robust whistleblower policy can help prevent major corporate scandals and financial disasters in the future.
