Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Anna Uger has joined the firm’s New York office as an associate in the Tax, Benefits, and Private Client group, which welcomed associates Luke Philip Walter and Peter H. Hull earlier this year. Anna’s addition further bolsters the firm’s growing State + Local Tax practice, which expanded in February 2020 with the addition of a prominent multistate tax team.

Anna concentrates her practice on a variety of state and local tax-related matters, including gross receipts, income, franchise, sales, use, and real estate transfer taxes. Prior to joining Blank Rome, Anna was a manager in the Multistate Tax group of a global accounting firm where she worked directly with state auditors to resolve client audit issues; examined the impact of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act on state and local taxes for clients and proposed actions in response to changes in federal and state law; provided state and local tax due diligence services for proposed merger and acquisition deals; and analyzed the state and local tax consequences of proposed corporate restructurings.

Anna also previously served as associate counsel in the Revenue, Finance, and Appropriations Section of the New Jersey Office of Legislative Services; deputy attorney general in the Tax, Bankruptcy and Debt Recovery Section of the Office of the Attorney General of New Jersey; and a judicial law clerk for the Tax Court of New Jersey.

Admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, Anna earned her LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center; J.D., magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law; and B.A. in History, cum laude, from Hunter College.
