Blank Rome Welcomes New Tax Associate in Washington, D.C.
Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Kendra H. Merchant has joined the Firm’s Washington, D.C., office as an associate in the Tax, Benefits, and Private Client group, which also welcomed experienced tax and real estate finance partner Cynthia Langelier Paine to the same office last month.
Kendra joins Blank Rome from Miles & Stockbridge, P.C. She concentrates her practice on a variety of federal and state tax issues in the areas of corporate, partnership, international, and individual income tax. Kendra has significant experience developing tax planning strategies for a variety of merger and acquisition transactions with U.S. and multinational companies, interpreting complex contractual terms related to tax matters for business combinations and dispositions, and overseeing implementation of precise tax saving structures at entity and owner level for assorted transactions.
In addition, Kendra advises international clients on U.S. tax law compliance and strategic tax planning opportunities, provides general counsel to tax-exempt organizations on matters related to obtaining and retaining tax exemption, and analyzes federal income tax treatment arising from new markets tax credit, renewable energy, and opportunity zone transactions.
Kendra is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Louisiana. She earned her LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center, her J.D. from Loyola University News Orleans College of Law, and her B.B.A. in International Business from Loyola University News Orleans.
