Blank Rome Welcomes New Corporate Of Counsel in Pittsburgh

Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Edwin L. Edwards, Jr. has joined the Firm’s Corporate, M&A, and Securities group as Of Counsel in the Pittsburgh office, which has expanded significantly this year with the notable additions of Partner Andrew K. Fletcher, Of Counsel Richard M. Weibley, and Associates Kevin M. Eddy and Alexandria Popovnak. The Corporate, M&A, and Securities group also recently welcomed Partner Louis Meng to the Firm’s Shanghai office, known locally as Blank Rome LLP Shanghai Representative Office, USA, to further enhance the group’s service offerings as well as bolster the Firm’s Asia Practice.

Mr. Edwards joins the Firm from Dinsmore & Shohl LLP. He focuses his practice on general corporate and securities law, assisting his clients with the formation of corporate entities and counseling them in corporate governance issues. He has assisted many of his clients in the purchase and sale of their business, as well as the growth and expansion of those businesses. His experience as a business owner prior to the practice of law has been invaluable to his clients. Mr. Edwards also has unique experience in the sports industry, primarily advising players from the National Football League with contract negotiations, litigation, and client counseling. In addition, he has represented athletes and management companies in other sports as well as served as legal counsel for various leading entertainment companies, negotiating facilities agreements, engagement and contract negotiations, and licenses, to name a few.

Prior to Mr. Edwards’ practice of law, he served as the vice president of WPTT, Inc. and Glencarin, Ltd., a holding company for eight television stations in major markets spanning the United States, during which time he negotiated television and movie agreements with some of the nation’s largest networks.

Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Mr. Edwards received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and his B.A. from Pennsylvania State University. Actively involved in his community and the legal industry, Mr. Edwards serves on the board of directors for the First National Bank Community Board, the Pittsburgh Film Office, and Project Eviive, on which he serves as co-chair of the board. He also serves on the Ball Committee for Orange Arrow, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to coach young student athletes to aim for success off the field. Additionally, he is a former member of the board of directors for the Port Authority of Allegheny County and a former member of the Hearing Committee for the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
