'Bachelor' Stars Scandal Puts Daily Fantasy In More Hot Water

Allegations that a pair of reality TV stars colluded to win a $1 million DraftKings Inc. contest won't shake the daily fantasy sports industry like the insider-trading scandal that nearly meant its downfall, but experts say the fiasco does raise questions about the integrity of such games.

"Yes, if there was collusion, it would highlight a possibility of a form of cheating that had not really come to light before," said Dennis M.P. Ehling, a business litigation and gambling industry attorney at Blank Rome LLP. "But this is not at all similar to the type of scandal that was roiling the industry four years ago."

"Whenever there is a prize to be won, there will be some players who try to game the system by tactics like submitting extra entries," Ehling said. "If there was collusion here, I would view it more along those lines than anything the strikes at the heart of the integrity of the industry."
