In an article published in Fortune, written by Brit Morse, Blank Rome partner Anthony B. Haller weighed in on the recent Executive Orders regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion ("DEI") initiatives within federal agencies and the federal contractor workforce and how those orders may impact Fortune 500 companies.
“The order clearly throws down the gauntlet to bring pressure across the board in the private sector, particularly with respect to public companies, because what they do and how they do it is more visible,” says Anthony Haller, partner in Blank Rome’s labor and employment legal practice.

Anthony also commented on whether the government might leverage federal contracts to influence the private sector by withholding contracts until companies update their DEI plans.
“The government could use the denial of contracts as a means of changing those policies,” Haller says.
