Country music star Zac Brown may have thought his whirlwind 2023 marriage would be over quickly, but the legal (and financial) fallout appears to be lingering far longer than the relationship itself.

According to Jacqueline Combs, partner at Blank Rome in Los Angeles, the court upheld the couple’s prenuptial agreement. “During the dissolution proceeding, the Court found their prenuptial agreement to be valid and enforceable, therefore any financial settlement would be governed by its terms,” Combs explained.
However, the fact that the couple remains in litigation suggests things may not be so simple behind the scenes.
Combs also noted that in some cases, litigation itself becomes a tactic for control. “In the context of divorce proceedings, financial abuse may continue in the form of protracted litigation, wherein a wealthier spouse uses the legal system to outspend and exhaust the other side, thereby securing greater leverage in negotiations and exerting control over the settlement terms,” she said.
