Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Saam Takaloo was presented with the firm’s annual Pro Bono Rising Star Award, which recognizes an associate whose dedication to pro bono has had a tremendous impact on pro bono clients and the firm.
Saam, a Business Litigation associate in Los Angeles, has distinguished himself through a deeply engaged and wide-ranging pro bono practice. Notably, he has handled humanitarian parole and asylum matters for individuals who were targeted due to their ties to U.S. forces or the former Afghan government. His work helped to secure safety for several vulnerable clients, including a female judge threatened because of her position and an Afghan women’s education advocate who co-founded an organization supporting women entrepreneurs in Afghanistan. Saam’s passion for community engagement has additionally led him to regularly partner with a local nonprofit organization, serving as an instructor on general business law for recent immigrants who are budding small business owners.
Saam’s pro bono efforts have also extended to name and gender marker change, election protection, and disaster relief work. He serves on Blank Rome’s Los Angeles pro bono committee and was elected this year as president of the Los Angeles chapter of the Iranian American Bar Association, furthering his opportunities to contribute to pro bono work with local nonprofit organizations.
