Temple University Beasley School of Law (“Temple Law”) won first place and earned a Best Advocate Award at the Premiere Trial Competition, held November 8–9, 2025, in Philadelphia, hosted by Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law (“Drexel Law”). Drexel Law finished a very close second in this highly competitive event.

The Temple Law team was coached by <a href="/people/nicholas-c-guth/" id="18656">Nicholas C. Guth</a>, an associate at Blank Rome, and the Drexel Law team was coached by <a href="/people/theresa-a-topping/" id="18724">Theresa A. Topping</a>, also a Blank Rome associate. Their leadership and guidance were instrumental in these outstanding results.

The Premiere Trial Competition provides law students with an opportunity to sharpen trial advocacy skills while fostering collegiality and professionalism. This event marks the participants’ first intramural competition, judged by panels of accomplished professors, advocacy program directors, and practicing attorneys.

Nick and Theresa exemplify Blank Rome’s dedication to excellence in advocacy. In addition to coaching Temple Law, Nick also coaches Roman Catholic High School’s mock trial team, which recently won Empire Chicago: The World Championship after qualifying with an undefeated 8–0 record.

At Blank Rome, Nick focuses his practice on general litigation matters, including corporate governance disputes, commercial contracts, and issues involving the gaming, sports, and entertainment industries. Theresa concentrates her practice on representing employers in a wide range of employment litigation matters.
