Michelle Gitlitz Named "Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory Innovator of the Year" at the 2018 Blockchain World Conference
Blank Rome Partner Michelle Ann Gitlitz, who co-leads Firm’s Blockchain Technology & Digital Currencies group, was presented with the “Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory Innovator of the Year” award at this year’s Blockchain World Conference, which was held July 11 to 13, 2018, in Atlantic City, NJ. Michelle was honored in front of more than 1000 industry leaders as part of the conference’s inaugural Industry Achievement Awards Gala, which recognizes the most influential players in blockchain who stood out for their performance innovation, achievements, and contributions to the industry over the past year.
Michelle also served as a guest speaker at the conference, presenting with Blank Rome Partner Grant E. Buerstetta on the topic of Token Taxonomy and Money Transmission: The Legal Landscape. Together they discussed the regulatory landscape surrounding money transmission at the state and federal level as well as the evolving classifications of cryptocurrency.
At Blank Rome, Michelle regularly advises companies as they bring blockchain technology applications to market, raise capital through coin/token issuances and digital security offerings, create digital currency exchanges/platforms, establish digital currency mining operations, and navigate through state and federal money transmission issues. She frequently presents on the legal and regulatory aspects of blockchain technology and tokenization, having participated in MIT’s Legal Forum for Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain and the United Nations' Blockchain for Impact Global Summit. She is a member of the Wall Street Blockchain Alliance and Global Legal Blockchain Consortium, and founding member of Diversity in Blockchain, Inc.
