Blank Rome Recognized as 2018 Equal Access to Justice Champion

Blank Rome LLP has once again been named an “Equal Access to Justice Champion” by Houston Volunteer Lawyers in recognition of the Firm's Houston office serving as “a model for pro bono legal services in the community.” The Equal Access to Justice Champions were honored at the Houston Bar Foundation Annual Meeting and Luncheon, which was held on February 8, 2018, at the Marriott Marquis Houston.

Blank Rome Partner Susan Bickley was also honored at the Annual Meeting, and was installed as a member of the board of directors for the Houston Bar Foundation, which is the primary funding source for Houston Volunteer Lawyers. The board on which Susan serves manages the Foundation’s fund and make grants annually to support pro bono programs and equal access to justice initiatives

Founded in 2006, the Equal Access to Justice Champion Program requires firms in Houston to take on a certain number of pro bono cases each year based on the number of lawyers in their office. Firms that participate in the program pledge to annually accept one pro bono case for every five attorneys. With more than 40 attorneys in the Firm’s Houston office, Blank Rome earned the Equal Access to Justice Champion title by exceeding its target of eight or more pro bono cases per year.
