Blank Rome Named "Access to Justice Champion" by SeniorLAW Center and AARP Pennsylvania
Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that the Firm was recognized as an “Access to Justice Champion” at the inaugural SeniorLAW Center and AARP Pennsylvania Pro Bono Awards, which was held on November 29, in Philadelphia. Blank Rome Partner and Director of Pro Bono Services Kathy E. Ochroch and Partner Daniel E. Rhynhart accepted the award on behalf of the Firm. Earlier this month, Blank Rome was also recognized with an official citation from the City of Philadelphia for its efforts in protecting the city’s immigrant population.
The Firm is deeply committed to the SeniorLAW Center and is proud of the pro bono work done through the partnership, including, for example, monthly advanced planning legal clinics where attorneys assist low-income seniors by drafting wills, living wills, and powers of attorney. Through these advance planning legal clinics, since its inception, Blank Rome and the SeniorLAW Center have helped more than 1,500 low-income seniors with these important documents.
Blank Rome attorneys also have received significant recognition for the pro bono work done with the SeniorLAW Center. Most recently, Blank Rome Partner Lawrence J. Beaser was honored with the SeniorLAW Center’s prestigious Champion of the Year award in recognition of his support and advocacy for justice and the rights of seniors, and the significant impact he has made in improving and enriching the lives of others. In Fall 2015, the Firm was honored at the First Judicial District Pro Bono Awards in recognition of its pro bono representation of an 88-year-old World War II veteran, Ray White, in a SeniorLAW Center case that had been ongoing for more than two years, spanning both criminal and civil actions. The pro bono team was led by Mr. Rhynhart and included Associates Rosemary McKenna, Jared M. DeBona, and Naomi Zwillenberg.
