Blank Rome Maritime partner Kierstan L. Carlson and associate G. Evan Spencer will serve as panelists on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the International Association of Young Lawyers (“AIJA”) Energy Law and Transport and Logistics Law Commissions’ fall seminar, Transport, Logistics, Energy, and Environmental Solutions for a Sustainable Economy, being held September 25 through 27 in Panama City, Panama. Kierstan is a member of the AIJA’s Transport and Logistics Law, International Arbitration, and Litigation Commissions and is on the event’s Organising Committee.

ABOUT THE SEMINAR

The operational needs of the transportation industry are progressing far beyond just transportation. Large carriers and freight forwarders are developing into logistics companies that offer not only transportation but also port operations and other logistics services. In fact, the global transport sector is developing into an intermodal and multimodal world in which transportation is no longer limited to one mode of transport alone, but in which goods only reach their destination through the interaction of many different players. And all these initiatives need to be sustainable and efficient. The program will focus on core transport and logistic issues, diving into the legal aspects and challenges of the various kinds of green transportation and efficient logistics, integrating energy law and trade aspects, including transport of CO2 and environmental healthy transport. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss the development of new technologies such as “green hydrogen” in the region, business opportunities, challenges and current synergies with Europe.
