Second Annual North American Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources Conference

Blank Rome LLP, the Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources Center of the University of Houston Law Center, and the University of Calgary Faculty of Law will sponsor the second annual North American Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources Conference, being held May 3-4, 2018, in Houston, Texas.

Themed “North American Energy and Environmental Policy in Transition,” this year’s agenda will address issues surrounding NAFTA renegotiation, diverging climate change policies, the acceleration of renewables on the North American grids, the privatization of Mexico’s energy sector, and what these changes mean for the energy business, the economy generally, and the environment in each of these countries.

On Thursday, May 3, Blank Rome Partner Margaret Anne Hill, who serves as chair of the Firm’s Environmental, Energy, and Mass Torts group, will provide the conference’s opening remarks and will also moderate the “Politics of Climate Change, Natural Gas Expansion, and Moving Energy” panel being held from 2:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

On Friday, May 4, Blank Rome Partner Frederick M. Lowther will moderate and speak on the “Lowest Cost Power Dispatch – The New Realities” panel being held from 9:15 a.m. to 10: 45 a.m., and Joseph McMonigle, principal of Blank Rome Government Relations LLC, will speak on the “All over the Map – Vertically Integrated Systems and Market Reform” panel being held from 11:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Blank Rome Partner Susan L. Bickley will provide the conference’s closing remarks.
