Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center
Blank Rome State + Local Tax partner Mitchell A. Newmark will serve as a panelist at the Council on State Taxation’s (“COST”) 2021 SALT Basics School, which will be held December 5 through 10, 2021, in Atlanta Georgia.
Mitchell’s session, “Restrictions on a State’s Ability to Tax,” will take place on Thursday, December 9, from 10:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and the panel will review the various restrictions on a state’s ability to impose taxes such as constitutional restrictions, federal legislation, and judicial pronouncements.
The COST SALT Basics School is designed to provide opportunities for new state tax professionals (0 to 3 years of experience) to significantly upgrade their knowledge base. The School is a great educational opportunity for tax professionals with 0–3 years of experience; tax professionals transitioning between transactional and income taxes and vice versa; and tax professionals who may have been out of the “tax world” and want a refresher. It incorporates separate modules covering income tax theory, sales tax theory, income tax compliance, and sales tax compliance. No prerequisites required.
