Blank Rome partner Seth D. Lamden will serve as a session speaker at DRI’s 2025 PFAS Seminar, being held September 24 through 25, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (“PFAS”) litigation is moving forward, and the increase in claims and settlements reflects a mounting alarm over environmental and health effects. Whether involved in PFAS litigation or simply wanting to stay current on the latest developments, this seminar will provide an overview of where PFAS litigation and regulation stand and what is likely to come next. PFAS has become a critical area of focus for law firms as the number of lawsuits targeting manufacturers across industries—from automotive and aerospace to pharmaceuticals and pesticides—as well as importers and retailers, continues to grow.
Seth’s session, “Insurance for PFAS Claims,” will take place on Thursday, September 25, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
ABOUT THE SESSION
This session will cover new PFAS exclusions introduced by individual insurers and the Insurance Services Office (“ISO”), as well as case law addressing the application of pollution exclusions to PFAS claims. In addition, this discussion will note the sometimes-nuanced insurance questions posed in relation to whether PFAS-related claims are product liability or nonproduct bodily injury or property damage claims. In a review of PFAS insurance cases, Seth will also touch on jurisdictional issues raised in one of the early PFAS coverage cases. Finally, the segment will look beyond commercial general liability policies and consider different policy types such as pollution legal liability policies, which may offer some PFAS-related coverage.
Other conference sessions include:
- Overview of PFAS Litigation: Federal and State Developments
- What You Need to Know About Testing for PFAS in Products and the Environment for Litigation and Regulatory Compliance
- What Can You Expect from a PFAS Blood Test?
- Regulating PFAS in Products: Where Are We and Where Are We Going?
