Blank Rome Partner Jennifer Short will serve as a panel speaker on the topic of “False Claims Act Settlements” at the American Bar Association (“ABA”) Section of Public Contract Law Procurement Fraud & False Claims Committee Meeting taking place Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 12:00 to 1:15pm EST.

The panelists will provide an overview of the False Claims Act settlement process and discuss strategy considerations and best practices from each of their perspectives, including:

  • The multi-party settlement process between the Department of Justice, other government agencies, the relator(s), and the defendant
  • The negotiation of the relator’s share of the settlement
  • The negotiation of the relator’s attorneys’ fees and costs
  • The negotiation of forward-looking compliance or administrative agreements

The panel will be moderated by Committee Co-Chair, Christine Couvillon.

ABOUT THE PUBLIC CONTRACT LAW PROCUREMENT FRAUD & FALSE CLAIMS COMMITTEE

The Committee monitors the government's remedies, activities, and initiatives relating to the investigation and prosecution of alleged fraud by contractors, including voluntary disclosures and corporate self-governance.
