Blank Rome partners Molly Crane and Michael S. Swoyer will serve as panelists for the Toronto CFO Leadership Council’s Doing Business in the U.S. program, being held Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

As the world’s largest economy, the United States presents a significant growth opportunity for Canadian businesses, offering access to a vast customer base, diverse industries, and a generally pro-business environment. Strategic cross-border expansion can unlock new markets, enhance competitiveness, and help avoid tariff-related challenges. However, entering the U.S. market brings complexity. From selecting the proper legal and operational structure to navigating regulatory compliance at the federal, state, and local levels, chief financial officer (“CFOs”) must be prepared for various financial and operational challenges. Managing foreign exchange exposure—particularly fluctuations in the CAD/USD exchange rate—is also critical to protecting margins and ensuring long-term success. This session brings together insights to help financial leaders make informed decisions and avoid costly missteps.

Panelists:

  • Molly Crane, Partner, Corporate, Blank Rome
  • Karim Francis, Head of Currency Hedging - FX Risk Management - North America - FX Sales - Derivatives/Risk Management, Convera
  • Michael Swoyer, Partner, Corporate, Blank Rome
  • Tammy Wang, Partner, MNP
