AML, KYC, and Conflict Minerals: Current Issues
Blank Rome Partner Joseph G. Poluka and Of Counsel Jed M. Silversmith will be speakers at the International Precious Metals Institute’s (“IPMI”) 41st Annual Conference, held June 11-13, in Orlando, Florida.
Their panel, “AML, KYC, and Conflict Minerals: Current Issues,” will be held on June 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. They will be joined by Michael Riess of Material Management Corporation and Jason Rubin of Republic Metals Corporation. The panel will focus on emerging issues related to money laundering that confront businesses in the precious metals industry. Topics include:
- Money laundering and the risks in receiving metal involved in a crime
- Bank Secrecy Act and other AML issues
- The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, particularly as it relates to AML questions
- OFAC compliance
- The current status of the Conflict Mineral Rules
Additionally, the program will provide an overview of regulatory requirements, as well as an update on recent enforcement actions and priorities. The panel also will touch upon best practices in conducting internal investigations regarding alleged AML/BSA/FCPA violations.
