Blank Rome Partners Hollis L. Hyans and Mitchell A. Newmark will speak at the New York University (“NYU”) School of Professional Studies (“SPS”) 39th Annual Institute on State and Local Taxation, being held December 2 through 4, 2020, as an online webinar series.

The Institute will kick-off at 1:30 p.m. EST on Wednesday, December 2, with a welcome address by program co-chairs June S. Haas and J. William McArthur, and the presentation of the NYU SPS Paul H. Frankel Award, which will be awarded to Holly this year.

Later that day, Holly and Mitchell will host and moderate the Day One Q&A Session at 5:00 p.m. EST to close out the day.

On Thursday, December 4, Holly will speak on the “Apportionment Issues: Recent Developments” panel, taking place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. EST. This panel will focus on market sourcing developments and review recent developments in alternative apportionment.

Mitchell’s session, “Federal Tax Reform's Impact on State Taxation,” will be held Friday, December 4, from 2:30 to 3:30, and will cover remaining reform issues that impact state taxation of businesses and the state-specific responses to federal tax reform, including state work-around to the limitation on the deductibility of interest expense, the changes on usage of net operating losses, the expensing provisions, the 199A deduction for partnerships, the limitation on the deductibility of FDIC fees, and the changed rules concerning capital contributions.
