Blank Rome Represents Quark Expeditions in Transaction to Build a Polar Expedition Cruise Ship
A Blank Rome team successfully represented Quark Expeditions in closing a deal with Brodosplit Shipyard in Split, Croatia, to build and charter (with an obligation to later purchase) an ice-classed polar expedition cruise ship valued at over €106 million.
The team has been assisting Quark on this new build project for over two years. Quark operates seven ships under time charter for specialty polar expedition trips, and this is the first new build they will initially operate under bareboat charter and ultimately own.
This complicated international maritime transaction required a coordinated effort between three offices. The transaction team included Doug Shoemaker and Jim Arnold in Houston, Brett Esber and Michael Clare in Washington D.C., and Humera Ahmed in New York.
