Blank Rome was honored with the 2017 Community Vision Award at the LeGaL Foundation Annual Dinner in New York City on Friday, April 6, 2017, in honor of the Firm’s “distinguished record of service to the LGBT community, including a sustained commitment to achieving equal rights for all members of the LGBT community.”
Blank Rome Partners Caroline Krauss-Browne and Meg Canby accepted the award on behalf of the Firm and in recognition of their commitment to the LGBT community through their pro bono work and significant victory in Brooke S.B. v. Elizabeth C.C., which overturned a 25-year precedent when the court ruled that non-biological, non-married, non-adoptive parents can seek custody and visitation of children who were born into their relationships with the consent of the child’s biological parent.
Blank Rome is honored to receive this award in recognition of Ms. Krauss-Browne and Ms. Canby’s milestone victory for the LGBT community at large as well as the Firm’s long-standing commitment and dedication to providing outstanding pro bono service and fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. Through the Firm's Diversity Committee, Affinity Groups, pro bono policy and service, and diversity engagements in local communities, Blank Rome is proud to be leading by example in the legal industry and beyond.
