Blank Rome Named Law Firm of the Year at the 2017 Northeast Oil & Gas Awards

Blank Rome LLP was honored with the “Law Firm of the Year Award” at the 2017 Northeast Oil & Gas Awards Gala Dinner, in recognition of the Firm’s excellence within the oil and gas legal sector. Members of Blank Rome’s Energy Industry Team accepted the award on behalf of the Firm, which is given to a standout firm that has “worked on a range of outstanding deals or cases; excelled at strategic input into deals completed within the permitted timeframe; demonstrated specific sector expertise; shown consummate negotiation skills; and displayed outstanding corporate citizenship including details of CSR initiatives.”

The Oil & Gas Awards recognizes the outstanding achievements made within the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry, rewarding success and commitment to health and safety, environmental stewardship, and corporate social responsibility. This year, the awards expanded to deliver a full-day of valuable content through the introduction of Industry Summits.

On Blank Rome receiving the award, the judges stated:

“Their record of CSR is rooted in their tradition of pro bono service, with the Firm’s founding partner Edwin Rome defending Aaron Turner, who was on death row and after 11 years and 5 separate trials, was eventually exonerated. Today the firm continues to work on numerous good causes to protect individuals and communities in the local area.”

“They clearly demonstrate their expertise in the diverse casework as presented in their submission. Delivering complex projects on behalf of some of the leading E&P and Midstream companies in the region on some of the most eminent projects currently underway.”

As the Observer Reporter noted in their coverage of the event, attorneys present at the awards discussed seeing upcoming modest recovery in the Appalachian Basin, and commented on the state of the industry following activity in private equity financing of mergers in late 2015 and throughout 2016. Attorneys and industry executives also discussed the need for constructing communication strategies with communities, public officials, and stakeholders “to combat groups who are opposed to natural gas development and new pipeline infrastructure projects.”
