Blank Rome's true capital is human capital. We offer innovative and imaginative solutions to the complex needs of our clients through the intellectual power of our lawyers and professionals, informed by their diverse attributes, backgrounds, and experiences.
On the Side of Inclusion
Blank Rome was started in 1946 by lawyers who—because of their ethnicity—were barred from joining many established law firms. The founders’ vision for the Firm was of a place where people of diverse backgrounds could gather to practice law.
Today, our diversity initiatives are led by our chief diversity and inclusion officer, the Honorable Nathaniel R. Jones, a renowned civil rights leader. Judge Jones was recognized with the American Lawyer 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award—a testament to his tireless efforts to advance the cause of civil rights and equal opportunity.
The team working on our diversity initiatives reports directly to our managing partner and CEO. With the support of Blank Rome’s Diversity Cabinet and the Firm’s full-time diversity manager, we are carrying out initiatives to foster an environment of diversity and inclusion. These initiatives include recruiting and mentoring, opportunities for networking, participation in programs for career development and advancement, and outreach to the communities in which we have a presence.
Our affinity groups—including Attorneys of Color and the Women's Forum—host dinners, receptions, and other events throughout the year that offer diverse lawyers and professionals the opportunity to build and strengthen relationships among our offices.
