Strange Bedfellows: Labor Relations and Gaming Management

Global Gaming Expo (G2E)
Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada

Stephen Schrier, partner in Blank Rome’s litigation practice group, moderated a panel discussion titled “Strange Bedfellows: Labor Relations and Gaming Management” at the 2008 Global Gaming Expo (G2E) on November 18, 2008.

While the key competencies necessary to lead and manage a non-union workforce are essentially the same, there are some unique and sensitive differences under a collective bargaining agreement. This discussion outlined how to create a proactive training and development strategy to help game managers and supervisors be prepared for future changes.

Additional speakers on the panel included Don Buzney, Executive Director of administration for Mount Airy Casino Resort; Lynn Handler, Vice President and Corporate Counsel for Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc.; and D. Taylor, Secretary and Treasurer for Culinary Workers Union, Local 226.
