3 Firms Steer $1B Real Estate Portfolio Deals through Feb.

Blank Rome LLP, Goodwin Procter LLP and Venable LLP were among the more than half a dozen law firms that grabbed work on the largest U.S. real estate portfolio deals during the first two months of 2017, and those three firms each worked on a deal worth more than $1 billion during the period.

The largest deal of the period saw DRA Advisors pick up a portfolio of industrial properties from Cabot Properties for a whopping $1.07 billion, barely notching a spot at the top of the list.

Those properties, located in 21 U.S. markets, have a combined roughly 20 million square feet.

Blank Rome got to work on the matter for DRA with a team that included Martin Luskin, Daniel J. Ivler, Samuel M. Walker, Joseph T. Gulant, Dayna C. Finkelstein, Corey Tarzik and Rustin I. Paul.

DRA has been a longtime client of Blank Rome.

"Over the course of the last ... 10 years or so, that representation has involved a number of not only portfolio acquisitions similar to the Cabot one but also in the same vein the acquisition of publicly traded REITs," Luskin told Law360 in an interview. "There were many moving pieces involved in this acquisition and financing of 184 buildings located in many markets across the U.S."
