Lawrence J. Beaser Honored with Eddie Ohlbaum Distinguished Advocate for Children Award

Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Lawrence J. Beaser is the recipient of the inaugural Eddie Ohlbaum Distinguished Advocate for Children Award, presented by The Support Center for Child Advocates (“Child Advocates”). 

Mr. Beaser is recognized for his exemplary career in professional, public, and charitable service. He is consistently involved in the discussions and planning to improve child protection laws, which he helped craft more than two decades ago. Outside his work with Child Advocates, he generously donates his time to The Philadelphia Foundation, Philadelphia VIP, the Philadelphia Bar Association, and countless other organizations.

The Award is named in honor of the late Eddie Ohlbaum, who served Child Advocates in a variety of roles, including as a volunteer, a member of the Board of Directors, chair of its Child Policy Committee, and a consultant on the organization’s most challenging ethics and practice questions. Mr. Beaser will be honored at the Annual Benefit Reception on April 22 at the Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia. Blank Rome is also a “Protector” level sponsor of the event. 

Mr. Beaser has extensive experience in the fields of nonprofit and for-profit business law, health law, and government law.  He previously was chief legal counsel to Pennsylvania Governor Milton J. Shapp. Mr. Beaser served as Chancellor of the 12,500 attorney Philadelphia Bar Association. He is chair of the Board of Managers of The Philadelphia Foundation, Southeastern Pennsylvania's community foundation with approximately $369 million in assets.
