Chambers Global Ranks Blank Rome Attorneys and Practices

The 2015 edition of Chambers Global recognizes some of the partners and practices that make Blank Rome a global leader.

Chambers gave high marks to the Firm in Shipping:  Litigation Shipping (Global-wide). Blank Rome is also noted in Bankruptcy/Restructuring (USA). Partners Ernie Chung, Anthony Haller, John Kimball, and Michael Margolis are recognized for their industry knowledge and leading practices.

Chambers notes:

"This firm is highly regarded for its all-round shipping expertise, which encompasses finance, litigation, and corporate and regulatory issues. The team's contentious work includes high-profile disputes arising from collision, oil pollution, charter party, shipbuilding and restructuring."

Ernest Chung “is an experienced lawyer with an internationally focused project finance practice. He acted for the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ on its role as lead arranger of the financing for a Chilean copper processing plant. Sources say: ‘He has a calming, logical influence and he is always trying to reach a solution.’”

Anthony Haller “was part of the team that worked with ABM Industries on restrictive covenant litigation resulting from the acquisition of services contracts. ‘He has a high degree of integrity, develops and executes a solid legal strategy, and is able to clearly articulate legal principles,’ say clients.”

John Kimball “retains his highly-regarded reputation in the shipping market. He specialises in admiralty and maritime law, as well as commercial litigation, and is described by sources as ‘a fantastic lawyer.’

Michael Margolis “draws acclaim for his broad litigation expertise and heads the Blank Rome LLP group dedicated to representing Chinese companies and individuals working in the USA. Clients benefit from his Mandarin language skills and experience with the Chinese legal system.”

Chambers & Partners, the UK-based publisher of Chambers Global, conducts research by speaking to a vast range of lawyers and clients. Greater weighting is given to the views of the latter, and any biased viewpoints tend to cancel each other out. All interviews are conducted purely for research purposes and are entirely confidential and un-attributed. The methodology has been approved by the British Market Research Bureau, which audits the research annually.

In-depth interviews with clients and lawyers are done over the telephone, each one lasting about half an hour. For the current Global directory, more than 6,500 of these interviews were conducted covering 170 countries. They were carried out by a team of 30 full-time researchers over a period of 12 months. The qualities on which rankings are assessed include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities most valued by the client. Editorial comment is also derived from the research, with quotations used when they sum up the prevailing opinion of the market. For more information, visit www.chambersandpartners.com/global.
