Blank Rome’s Stephen Whelan Elected to ELFA’s 2014 Board of Directors

Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Stephen T. Whelan has been elected to the 2014 Board of Directors of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (“ELFA”) for a three-year term.  Mr. Whelan’s term commenced on October 19, 2013 and will conclude in October 2016.

Mr. Whelan has been a long-standing member of ELFA, as well as a member of its Legislative and Regulatory Subcommittee and a former member of its Legal Committee.  In 2006, he received ELFA’s first-ever “Excellence in Leasing” Award.

ELFA is a trade association representing many of the nation's largest financial services companies and manufacturers, as well as regional and community banks and independent medium and small finance companies, in the U.S. equipment finance sector.  The Association’s mission is to provide its member companies with a forum for industry development, a platform to advocate for the industry, and a principal resource for industry information and ethical standards.  To learn more about ELFA, please visit www.elfaonline.org.

Mr. Whelan is a partner in Blank Rome’s financial services group.  He concentrates his practice in equipment leasing and financing, secured lending, asset securitization, and energy finance.  Mr. Whelan has been recognized by The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers and as a New York Metro Area “Super Lawyer.”  He co-authors the American Bar Association’s Uniform Commercial Code Annual Survey chapter on “Leases” and frequently publishes and lectures on topics such as securitization, leasing, energy finance, and bankruptcy.  He is also a visiting lecturer on constitutional law at Princeton University.
