Marianne T. Caulfield and Christine S. Tan Bring Specialized Loan Trading Experience to the Firm

Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Marianne T. Caulfield and Christine S. Tan have joined the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office as partners in the Financial Services group. Ms. Caulfield and Ms. Tan bring a highly-specialized loan trading practice to the Firm, serving financial institutions, investment banks, asset managers and hedge funds in the secondary loan trading market.

Buchholz, Managing Partner and CEO. “Marianne and Christine are both accomplished corporate attorneys, and their highly-specialized loan trading practice will be a great complement to our national financial services practice.”

Marianne T. Caulfield is a corporate attorney with more than 25 years of combined legal and business experience. She represents investment banks, broker-dealers, hedge funds and other entities in loan and claims trading, collateralized debt obligation (CDO) and loan portfolio transactions, and related matters. She advises clients on multi-currency loans, loans issued to foreign entities, trade claims and project finance loans. Ms. Caulfield also has experience working on the trading desk of a global investment bank, where she served as its in-house counsel, overseeing the closing process for par and distressed loan trades and supervised regulatory compliance.

Admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, New Jersey, New York and Virginia, Ms. Caulfield earned her Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law School, her Masters of Business Administration degree from Drexel University, and her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Joseph’s University. She is active in the Loan Syndications and Trading Association (LSTA).

Christine S. Tan has more than 10 years of legal experience with a particular expertise in representing financial institutions, investment management companies, and hedge funds in connection with the purchase and sale of par and distressed syndicated bank loans and trade claims issued to U.S. and foreign entities. Her experience includes overseeing all aspects of bank debt transactions and portfolio sales. She advises many commercial banks, investment banks, broker-dealers, investment advisors and other entities in connection with distressed loan trading, collateralized loan obligation (CLO) ramp ups and loan portfolio transactions. Ms. Tan has extensive experience in the negotiation, review and analysis, and drafting of credit documentation and secondary trading documentation relating to distressed and par loans.

Admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and New York, Ms. Tan earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College. She participates in the LSTA.
