Court Order Freezes $129 Million of Fortescue Funds

Blank Rome was noted by TradeWinds as winning a federal judge's order to freeze $129,765,746 of Fortescue Mining Group (FMG) funds.

This freeze, on behalf of a claim by the Angelicoussis Group, was the biggest of a series of shipowner claims that have emerged since FMG announced it would suspend contracted ocean freight “on the basis of unforeseen circumstances.”

“Big Freeze” by Bob Rust appeared in TradeWinds on December 17, 2008.
