Representative Matters

  • Helped secure federal funding for water treatments at a major manufacturing facility, enabling the company to expand its plant. 
  • A major chemical company concerned with onerous regulations in the European Union turned to Blank Rome for assistance with mitigating the impact of the regulations.  We developed their successful strategy and connected the client with skilled local counsel.  .
  • A medical product company with a cutting-edge skin decontamination lotion wanted to market its product to the Department of Defense (DOD), given the product’s utility for the armed forces.  Blank Rome was instrumental in helping the company successfully navigate the FDA and DOD approval processes, win DOD contracts, and secure the rights to sell the product beyond DOD in the United States. Blank Rome continues to counsel the company on federal, state, and local government strategy
  • Blank Rome developed legislation enacted to study Federal support for the development of a new system to transport volatile liquid chemicals such as benzene, toluene, and xylene, by a common carrier pipeline to enhance the safety and efficiency of handling chemicals and free up capacity for other items to be moved by other modes of transportation
  • Blank Rome assisted a trade association to get legislation enacted that would differentiate the classification of vegetable oils and animal fats from petroleum oil and other hazardous chemicals. 
  • Blank Rome has helped a variety of clients influence legislation of interest to the chemical industry.  We have:
    • helped draft the Oil Pollution Act of 1990
    • drafted amendments to the Clean Water Act
    • developed the Natural Resource Damage Assessment Regulations for NOAA
    • been instrumental in handling NRDA cases under the Clean Water Act
    • served as Principal attorney for the Coastal Zone Management Program
    • assisted ports in drafting port security grant applications
    • influenced legislation and subsequently developed regulatory expertise regarding chemical infrastructure security
