Dylan S. Mitchell

Biography

Dylan Mitchell zealously advocates for his clients during what is often the most difficult time in their lives. With compassion, understanding, and extensive experience, he has achieved favorable resolutions for his clients through negotiated settlement and, when necessary, litigation. Dylan’s representations have included many high-net-worth and high profile individuals in matrimonial disputes, involving multimillion dollar marital estates, as well as in custody and visitation matters. Dylan has more than 25 years of extensive experience advising clients in all aspects of matrimonial and family law, including:

  • Prenuptial agreements
  • Postnuptial agreements
  • Custody, access, and relocation issues
  • Divorce negotiation and litigation
  • Equitable distribution, spousal and child support, and related ancillary issues
  • Paternity proceedings

Dylan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Dylan has three times been a guest lecturer at Rutgers Law School on the subject of child custody disputes. He has also moderated, lectured and served as a panelist at New York State Bar Association, New York City Bar Association, and American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers CLE seminars, including:

Professional Activities

From 2017 to 2020, Dylan was Chair of the Matrimonial Committee of the New York City Bar and is currently a member of the Judiciary Committee of the New York City Bar. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, and Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee.

Dylan also is an attorney member of the Interdisciplinary Forum on Mental Health and Family Law, and serves on the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy (University at Albany) Advisory Board.
