CHAIR, MATRIMONIAL AND FAMILY LAW PRACTICE GROUP
Caroline Krauss-Browne has been a member of Blank Rome LLP since January 2003 and, prior to becoming a partner, was associated with the Firm for eight years. She was associated with two prior firms prior to joining what was then Tenzer Greenblatt (which merged with Blank Rome in 2000). Ms. Krauss-Browne is presently the Co-Chair of the Firm’s Matrimonial and Family Law Practice Group (managing 30 lawyers total practicing in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, and Florida) and previously served on the Firm’s Partner Board and as a founding member of the Firm’s Diversity Committee. She is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and received 40 hours of mediation training as well as training which enables her to participate in the court system’s new neutral monitor program, pursuant to which she volunteers her time to assist litigants and counsel work through isolated issues. She advises clients in all aspects of matrimonial and family law, including:
- pre- and post-nuptial agreements
- custody and access issues
- divorce negotiation and litigation
- equitable distribution, spousal and child support, and related ancillary issues
Ms. Krauss-Browne has practiced family law almost exclusively for the past 22 years, devoted a significant part of her practice to family law during the four years prior, and is a candid adviser to and fierce advocate for her clients. An experienced litigator, Ms. Krauss-Browne also counsels her clients that litigation is not always the preferred approach. She is a trained mediator assisting parties in resolving their marital disputes. Her care of and concern for her clients is evident in the fact that Caroline also represented Brooke S.B. pro bono in the seminal 2016 same sex parenting case that overturned the onerous standing rules in New York that drastically and negatively impacted same sex parents.
Accolades Ms. Krauss-Browne has received include listings in Worth magazine’s “Top 100 Attorneys” and New York Magazine’s “Women Leaders of the Law.” Additionally, she has been repeatedly recognized as a “Super Lawyer” by the publishers of the New York Metro Super Lawyers magazine, and most recently was designated a 2017 “Trailblazer” by the National Law Journal.
